Independent powered access rental company GTAccess has acquired Bedfordshire based Neon Hire Services in a multi-million-pound deal that will strengthen its presence in England’s southeast.

GTAccess currently employs 107 staff across 7 depots in the Midlands, Sussex and South Wales, and operates a modern fleet of just over 2,000 access platforms.

The addition of Neon Hire will add a further 5 depots in Luton, Peterborough, Brentwood, Central London and a sub depot at the NEC in Birmingham. These additional depots will fill the gap nicely for GTAccess between their Midlands based depots and their depot in Hailsham, East Sussex. Neon Hire runs a fleet of approximately 500 access platforms, 200 push around verticals and a variety of forklifts, diggers and material handling equipment and employs 35 people across the organisation.

Jonathan Till, Managing Director at GTAccess, said, “This acquisition will strengthen our powered access offering across southern England and will help us to continue our ambitious growth strategy.

This acquisition will make GTAccess the largest independently owned powered access hire company within the UK market, with a total fleet size approaching 2,700 machines across 12 depots and employing 142 staff. Deliveries throughout the Midlands, Wales and southern England will be supported with a specialist fleet of 11 articulated heavy delivery vehicles, 21 rigid’s, 5 smaller 7.5 ton rigid’s for restricted access areas and a number of 3.5-ton vehicles for fast response deliveries.

It is expected that Neon Hire customers will be unaffected by the change, with all current depots and staff being retained. Current Managing Director of Neon Hire Services, Neon Lane, said “This is great news for our customers as we can now offer them the same levels of service over a much wider geographical area. It will also secure the future for the dedicated staff at Neon Hire who have made the company what it is today.”

Tom Long, General Manager at GTAccess, Commented: “Although we already deliver powered access platforms into London and across the south-east, the addition of the Neon Hire locations will greatly expand our capability for delivering quickly and efficiently into those areas and will make it much easier for us to continue meeting our customers’ high expectations.”

The synergies of the two companies and the integration of the depot locations makes this acquisition a perfect fit for both Neon Hire and GTAccess and should prove extremely beneficial to both companies and their customers  – together, the future looks bright for Neon and GTAccess.
